Bowling pins. Doll eyes. Too weird to ignore. They’re fun. They’re odd. They’re eye-catching (literally). Step into a world of playful oddities with Pin Heads, quirky little characters born from vintage toy pins, flea market treasures, and a touch of creative magic. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll craft two one-of-a-kind Pin Heads, combining embedded eyes, oddball hats, and scavenged bits of wood, metal, and found objects. This class celebrates imperfection, imagination, and the joy of unexpected combinations. Each Pin Head becomes a whimsical experiment in color, texture, and sparkle—a tiny personality that’s equal parts strange, fun, and eye-catching. We will work with clay, wire and hardware to adorn our Pin Heads.
Materials Fee $55 paid at beginning of class includes:
2 pins, 2 bases, and an assortment of fun items to attach to your creations. The attachment techniques you’ll learn will level up your assemblage game. I’ll have brushes, paints and markers to add color and patterns to your pieces too.
Supplies Needed to bring for Class:
● Paper & Pen to take notes
● Scissors
● Water cup
● Apron
● Any meaningful found objects, bits and bobs that can be attached to your pinhead (I will have a selection of items for your use, so don’t go hog wild here)
● Basic jewelry pliers: round nose, flat nose, chain nose, wire cutters
● Ball Peen Hammer
Optional items to bring IF YOU ALREADY OWN THEM, otherwise I will have some to share:
● Center punch
● vice to help hold your pin head while working on it (I use a drill press vice)
● metal bench block with rubber block
● Drill with 1/16” bits (2)
