Truly an immersive experience, this class takes coloring fabric with acrylics and the use of gel plates to the next level. Hand dyed fabrics make any project more personal. They create more options and more opportunity to realize your artistic vision. Say goodbye to toxic chemicals and hello to vibrant colors and intricate details as you learn to dye fabric with acrylics, achieving the same stunning results as fiber reactive dyes. And…did you know gel plates are available in sizes up to 16 x 20 inches! Imagine pulling a fabric mono-print using a 16x20 gel plate. Working with a partner, you will have that experience! It’s remarkable what we can accomplish working together. You will experiment with acrylic color in its wide variety of forms; liquid, medium bodied, and solid pencil or block, and you will explore a wide variety of application techniques; immersion, direct application and finally gel printing with plates in multiple sizes. You'll walk away from class with a newfound understanding of working with acrylics, a collection of hand-dyed fabrics, and the inspiration to incorporate them into your next project. This class is suitable for all levels, from beginners to experienced artists looking to explore a new medium.
*This is a stand-alone class. However, it is a companion class to my Fabric Collage - Female Guardian Figure. What could be more perfect than incorporating your hand dyed fabric into your personal vision of the guardian figure, ‘she who watches.’
