Beginner friendly introduction to linocut carving and relief printing using a soft carve substrate. We’ll cover image transfer of either found images or original images. Next, we will learn about negative and positive space and begin carving our blocks. We’ll go over safety and instill confidence in carving. You will create unique prints using various inks, papers, cardstock, postcards, and will leave with all of your prints and the skills and confidence to create more designs at home. All skill levels are welcome.
Materials Fee $25 paid at beginning of class includes:
4x6 soft carve substrate, inks, brayers, burnishers, sharpie markers, carving tools, spray bottles, and a variety of handmade papers, cardstock, and postcards
Supplies Needed to bring for Class:
an apron, a shop towel or hand towel for wiping hands, favorite lino cutting tools if you own them. Otherwise, the instructor will have loaner tools for use in class and for purchase.
