The style of folk art painting is simple imagery with rustic lines, often telling a story of everyday life. In this class we will paint flowers in vases and colorful fruit, add a mug, or another object (wine bottle, coffee carafe), you choose!
We will use acrylic paints, which dry quickly, and practice one of my favorite techniques (carving into wet paint), and use both negative space and overlapping objects to create calm distinctive paintings.
You will paint 2 pieces in this one day class. No experience is necessary. Your painting and drawing style will emerge throughout the class. Individuality is what makes each artist shine. We will use chalk as an outline so there is lots of time to practice/erase/fine tune your work.
