Layered Stories: Mixed Media Bunting

Portland Fall 2026 is NOW OPEN

Chris Karpiak
9:00 - 4:30
Sunday Sept 20
$185.00

Create a one-of-a-kind bunting that tells your story through texture, layers, and intention.

In this inspiring mixed media class, you’ll explore the art of combining fabric, paper, fibres, metal, and a varied collection of ephemera to craft a series of beautifully connected pieces that come together as a unique bunting. Each flag becomes a small canvas—an expression of memory, meaning, and creative freedom.

Through intuitive layering and playful experimentation, you’ll learn how to blend contrasting soft and structured materials, allowing contrast and harmony to emerge naturally. Frayed edges, original papers, and unique elements will be layered and adhered together through sewing, stitching, stapling and glueing, creating depth, movement, and a sense of soulful cohesion.

This process is an invitation to slow down, to honour the beauty in the pieces you create and gather, and to transform the ordinary into something deeply personal and meaningful.

Leave with a finished bunting, or hang the pieces separately in your space as a gentle reminder of your creativity, your story, and the beauty found in bringing it all together.
